This page is to help you find your way around the College and make your visit a productive and enjoyable experience.

If you are involved in an accident or a near miss, please report the incident to a Customer Experience Officer at the reception desk, where a member of the team will be situated.

When you arrive at the College, please enter through the main reception at the Balliol building unless otherwise instructed by your Host. Customer Experience Officers will be in the main reception area to check you in. You can find directions here.

The College hosts number of catering outlets that you’re welcome to use whilst on campus. Each of the outlets serve a range of refreshments.

  • University Centre – L20 Cafe, ground floor.

In the event of an emergency, please leave through your nearest exit and proceed to the nearest meeting point. Your Host and other staff members will be on hand to guide you.

In turn we also expect our staff and students to treat you respectfully and inclusively, should you experience any behaviour to the contrary please discuss this with your key point of contact on site or visit reception.

If you sustain any personal injuries, or are present while an accident occurs, please report in the first instance to the reception desk of the campus you are visiting, where a member of the team will be situated.

While the College takes every precaution to protect visitors’ property during a visit, the College will not be held responsible for any loss or damage.

Visitors can request access to the College’s WiFi from the Customer Experience Officer based in the Balliol building and Port Academy Liverpool building reception areas.

In the event of a lockdown, you will hear the announcement stating the College is in lockdown. The emergency lockdown is used when it is necessary to restrict movement around the College site. On hearing the announcement, visitors should proceed to the nearest office or supervised classroom as quickly as possible. Visitors are politely requested to refrain from using any mobile or internet device during a lockdown until told by a member of staff that it is permissible to do so.

Any theft or loss of items should be reported to the Customer Experience Officers, located in the main reception.

Car parking at our Balliol Road Campus is extremely limited. Your Host can request a space on your behalf or, alternatively, please contact one of our Customer Experience Officers on the main reception number – 0151 353 4444.

The College recognises it has an explicit duty to safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults from harm and we encourage you to alert staff members to any inappropriate behaviour or concerns that you may have. You can do this by going to reception and asking to speak to a Safeguarding Officer. Please remember as a visitor you have a duty to take reasonable care for the safety of yourself and others whilst on site. However we do recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility so you can also look out for any staff member with a yellow and rainbow lanyard on and they will be able to support you.

We operate a strict no smoking policy on College campuses. There are designated smoking areas outside of the building, which are clearly signposted.

The Merseyrail Bootle Oriel Road station is only a two minute walk from the Balliol Road Campus. This station is on the Northern Line and offers easy access to the Balliol Road Campus from Liverpool, Crosby, Formby, Southport and other areas. By car
Satellite navigation systems (Satnav) – please enter postcode L20 7EW. The closest motorway junctions are the M58 1a/ M57 Junction 7 – 3.7 miles (6km). Then follow the A59 towards Liverpool for approximately ten minutes, turning right onto the A5058 at the first roundabout, which leads onto Balliol Road. Please note: there is no car park available for visitors, unless pre-booked with the College beforehand.

Students can also travel to the Balliol Road Campus on regular bus services from Southport, Formby, Crosby, Old Roan, Maghull, Litherland, Netherton, Litherland, Queens Drive and Liverpool City Centre. For further information visit www.arriva.co.uk.

There are two Merseyrail stations within a 30 minute walk of the Sefton Sixth Form College. Seaforth and Litherland Station and Aintree Station. By car
The Sefton Sixth Form College is situated just off the A5036 next to Bootle Golf Course and is close to both the M57 and M58. There is parking available on campus.
