College Governors Get Hands-On Experience with Bricklaying Students
Members from the governing body of Hugh Baird College have recently participated in a taster session with bricklaying students at the College.
The session was designed to give the governors an insight into the skills and techniques required to be a successful bricklayer and an opportunity to interact with students and see the College's facilities firsthand.
During the session, the governors were shown the basics of bricklaying, including how to mix mortar and lay bricks, and were able to try their hand at building a small wall themselves. The students were on hand to provide guidance and support, and the governors were impressed by the level of skill and expertise demonstrated by the students.
Speaking after the session, Geraldine Sloan, Chair of the Corporation, said:
It was a fantastic experience to be able to spend time with the bricklaying students and their tutors and get a sense of the work they do. We were all impressed by the students' professionalism and the high quality of their work. It's clear that the college is providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their careers.
Overall, the taster session was a resounding success, demonstrating the commitment of Hugh Baird College to providing high-quality education and training to its students. By engaging with its governing body in this way, the College ensures that its leaders are fully informed about the work being done on campus and the opportunities available to students.
