Preparation for working in Healthcare

If you're 19+ and want to embark on a career in the healthcare sector but don't have the required qualifications, this six-month course could be the perfect place to start.

Successful completion of this course, and any English and maths qualifications you require, guarantees you a place on one of the following Access to Higher Education diplomas at Hugh Baird College:

• Access to Higher Education - Allied Health Professionals
• Access to Higher Education - Nursing and Midwifery
• Access to Higher Education - Social Work

As part of this programme, you will be studying the following courses:

• Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health (NCFE)
• Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism (NCFE)
• Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Personal Care Needs  (NCFE)
• GCSE or Functional Skills English and/or Maths if required

With just a year of additional study, you could then be eligible to progress to a related university-level course at the Hugh Baird University Centre or one of many universities across the country.

Popular career choices include nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, radiography, occupational therapy, paramedic practitioner, operating theatre practitioner and other health-related professions.
