Apprenticeship Details

This qualification is aimed at anybody who works in an electrical installation role.

Your assessor will visit you in your workplace on a monthly basis for the duration of the qualification. You will be assessed using a variety of different methods, for example, workplace observations, assignments and online tests. Where possible, your assessor will endeavour to use your daily work activities as the means of assessment.

You will also work towards a maths and English qualification as part of the apprenticeship, if needed.

You may be required to attend college for some parts of your programme, your assessor/tutor will advise.

The apprenticeship framework is made up from a number of components.

Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation and Maintenance:

  • Portfolio Building & On Site Observation

Level 3 Technical Certificate:

  • Online exams
  • Practical workshop assignment
  • Written Assignments

AM2:

  • 3 day off site practical assessment.

Functional Skills Level 2:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Aged 16+
  • You must be employed within a relevant environment and provide evidence that you have the skills, knowledge and behaviours required by the sector at Level 2.
  • You must demonstrate Maths and English skills at Level 1 or above in your initial Maths and English assessment.

Most apprenticeships take between 12 - 18 months to complete.

Yes, you will be paid by your employer for the duration of your apprenticeship. You will be paid at least the government’s minimum wage rate for apprentices, £3.70. A lot of employers pay their apprentices a higher hourly wage than the minimum rate.

This is ultimately up to your employers, but more than 90% of apprentices stay in employment after their course ends.
