I was really nervous about leaving High School and starting College, but after attending a Hugh Baird College Open Evening, my mind was put at ease. I was blown away by the amazing quality of work; I always remember thinking “I want to make art as good as that.” On the night the Art and Design tutors were so attentive and answered all my questions (big or small).

The support didn’t stop there, they saw that I was willing to work hard, so helped me in any way they could. I suffer with anxiety/depression and The POD Student Services team were always there to listen and help me in any way they could, with weekly check-ups to make sure I was doing ok.

By studying the Art and Design - BTEC Extended Diploma - Level 3 course, it grew my skills creatively but also gave me essential skills such as; team work, communication and organisation. I have become so much more confident in my skills as an artist and have even started showing my work to people, something I thought would never happen. My aim is to one day be a recognised Illustrator.
