The Future of Fashion: Students Choose their Top 5 Best Dressed at the BAFTAs 2023

The BAFTA Film Awards 2023 took place last night, and even though it celebrates the best British and international contributions to film, we want to discuss the fashion moments of the stars.

We chatted with Hugh Baird University Centre Fashion and Textiles students and their tutor to see who they thought was the best dressed at this year's awards.

Florence Pugh

WOW, Florence Pugh arrived with a bang in a luminous orange Nina Riche gown by Harris Reed. Kelly (tutor) fell absolutely in love with this piece and explained how Harris Reed inspires the students due to sharing a similar background and how far they have come considering they only graduated from Central Saint Martins a year ago!

Debro (student) selected Florence as she appreciated her boldness and, more specifically, the detail in the pleats in the gown.

Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Erivo stepped onto the carpet in Louis Vuitton. Shannon (student) admired the unique structure of the shoulder and neckline - making the dress pop on the red carpet.

Munroe Bergdorf

Munroe Bergdorf's gothic look was custom-made by Dreaming Eli. Munroe was Harley's (student) first choice as she is a huge fan of the Wednesday Adam's inspired look and dramatics of the black lace on the carpet.

Dolly De Leon

Nina (student) was hugely drawn to Dolly De Leon's Rajo Laurel 'Alon' gown, which shares many similarities with her current collection. Nina's most recent collection has been inspired by shell-like textures, also seen in Dolly's dress.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Gugu Mbatha-Raw hit the red carpet in a Gucci gown. Barbie (student) selected Gugu as she admired the mixture of the materials (lace and diamontes) within the dress, which are not typically traditionally mixed.
