Traineeship event provides local employment opportunities


Hugh Baird College recently played host to a wide selection of employers from across the region as they showcased a range of Traineeship vacancies available to people aged 16 – 24 through the college’s Traineeship programme.

Hugh Baird College recently played host to a wide selection of employers from across the region as they showcased a range of Traineeship vacancies available to people aged 16 – 24 through the college’s Traineeship programme.

The Traineeship scheme at Hugh Baird College requires those who sign up to complete a minimum of 6 weeks study spread over 2 days a week in areas such as Functional Skills and Employability. Once qualifications are completed, learners then have the opportunity to progress onto an Apprenticeship programme or remain employed by their chosen employer. With a supportive Traineeship team at Hugh Baird College, staff are always available to discuss all options open to learners, thus ensuring the student selects a Traineeship option suitable for their chosen career path.

Hugh Baird College, Traineeship Co-ordinator, Monica Powell said:

The scheme is designed to give learners good quality work experience in their chosen careers, whilst simultaneously up skilling them through recognised and valued qualifications. The scheme as a whole is designed to make sure that learners grow in confidence and ultimately gain an apprenticeship or employment.

To give all visitors to the event, a broad understanding of the types of industries they could start a career in, they were treated to talks from companies such as Banardos, Scope, Blok n Mesh, South Sefton Foodbank and The Orrell Trust.

All employers also gave visitors more information on the responsibilities of each role and any future prospects that could come from the available positions.
