Technical Vocational students celebrate at Hugh Baird College
Technical Vocational students at Hugh Baird College have been celebrating outstanding results within the College’s industry based subject areas, especially given that they have faced extra challenges this year.
These students now have the experience and qualifications to go into their chosen industry, apprenticeship or even university upon receiving their results today.
Mathew Clarke, Hugh Baird College Level 3 Public Service student who gained Distinction Distinction Distinction*, said:
I really enjoyed my time at the College, I got the opportunity to travel around the country hiking, gorge walking and experiencing various army bases, to give me a feel of what it would be like to serve in the British Army. Now with my achievements I plan on doing so and I can’t wait.
Kayleigh Ormandy, Hugh Baird College Level 3 Beauty Therapy student who achieved a Merit and Distinction, said:
I loved studying the Level 3 Beauty and Spa Therapy course, the biggest highlight for me had to be working with and training with Elemis, no other College in the in the North West offers this kind of training, I can now apply for jobs in some of the most prestigious spas and beauty salons.
I am over the moon with my achievements and I couldn’t have done it without the amazing help of my tutors, they are so knowledgeable and perfectionists in everything they do.
Nina Forbes, Hugh Baird College Level 3 Childcare student, who achieved an A*, said:
I decided to return to education as a mature student, relocating from Devon to do so. Back in Devon I couldn’t find a College that would allow me to study full-time, so when I heard that it could be possible at Hugh Baird College, I took the big decision to relocate and I’m so glad I did.
I can’t thank the tutors enough for the support and knowledge they have shared with me, they have helped me to meet targets as well as being realistic with workloads. Because of them, I was given a chance and supported to not only get back into education after 7 years, but exceed my predicted grades.
My next step is to study Early Years Education with QTS at Liverpool Hope University.

Adapting to a new way or learning has not been easy, but today shows that anything is possible for our students and I wish them all the luck in their next steps.
