Hugh Baird College’s L20 Restaurant announces second collaboration with Voyagers
Students from Hugh Baird College’s L20 Hotel School are set to showcase their skills once again at Liverpool’s Voyagers Restaurant & Bar, following the success of a first collaboration last academic year.

On Thursday 18 September from 6pm, diners will be treated to an exclusive four-course menu designed by the College’s L20 Restaurant team and brought to life by students working alongside Voyagers’ chefs.
The evening will begin with a selection of nibbles created by Voyagers’ Head Chef, Jake Parry, before guests enjoy a menu that highlights some of L20 Restaurant’s most popular dishes, including:
- Warm mushroom and truffle broth
- Halibut with courgette and saffron chutney, black olive tapenade and courgette and basil purée
- Lamb rump with boulangère potatoes, roasted radish, mint oil and lamb jus
- Desserts such as whey tart with roasted white chocolate, honey and yoghurt granita, and blackberry sorbet
The partnership has already proved a launchpad into employment. After February’s takeover event, Voyagers welcomed three Hugh Baird College students into their team, including Alfie Kennedy, 19, from Bootle, who recently graduated with an Advanced Professional Cookery Level 3 qualification.
Stephen Otty, Curriculum Manager at Hugh Baird College’s L20 Hotel School, said
Our students benefit enormously from these opportunities to work in professional settings, and the fact that some are now employed at Voyagers shows just how impactful these experiences are. Seeing alumni like Alfie progress is an incredible inspiration for our current learners.
Curtis Goodwin, Food & Beverage Manager of Voyagers Restaurant & Bar, said:
We’re so excited to continue our partnership with L20. Not only does it give our guests an unforgettable evening, but it also creates real opportunities for young people looking to start their careers in hospitality.
Hugh Baird College was awarded an Ofsted Outstanding rating earlier this year, one of only three colleges in the North West to hold this recognition, placing it among the top 10% nationally. The College is also ranked the No. 1 further education college in the country for Tech Level 3 Progress and has achieved a 100% pass rate across many vocational subjects.
These successes underscore its dedication to delivering high-quality education and achieving outstanding learner outcomes, while providing students with real-world opportunities, such as this collaboration with Voyagers.
Tickets for the event are priced at £50 per person. Spaces are limited, and early booking is strongly recommended.
