Hugh Baird College Alumni Excel in Logistics and Business through Innovative Scholarship Programmes

Hugh Baird College is proud to spotlight the journeys of two alumni, Zoe Melling and Paul Osaigbovo. After participating in the College's Scholarship Programmes, their careers in the logistics and business sectors have soared.

Zoe Melling: from Business Student to Procurement Coordinator at Peel Ports

Zoe's journey through Hugh Baird College's business courses and engagement on the College's Peel Ports Scholarship Programme has culminated in a successful career as a Procurement Coordinator at Peel Ports. In her role, Zoe oversees the acquisition of essential supplies for the site, from crane and plant parts to personal protective equipment and manages projects across significant ports, including Liverpool, Heysham, and the Manchester Ship Canal.

Reflecting on her experience, Zoe shared:

The Scholarship Programme opened the door to my dream job at Peel Ports. With guidance from my scholarship mentor at Peel Ports, I navigated my career path to focus on purchasing, a field I'm deeply passionate about. Hugh Baird College was instrumental in my journey, giving me the confidence to excel in my role and beyond.

Paul Osaigbovo: Award-Winning Student to International Business Degree

Paul's story is equally inspiring. He studied as a business student at Hugh Baird College, where he won a student award for 'Excellence in Employability Skills,' progressing onto a degree in International Business at Manchester Metropolitan University. His engagement in the Scholarship Programme with Denholm Logistics Group honed his employability skills and facilitated a transition to higher education.

Paul advises current and future students:

The Scholarship Programme offered valuable business connections and work experience opportunities. Asking questions and being curious about your career path is essential. This curiosity led me to pursue a degree in International Business.
