Last week a group of Hugh Baird College Cabin Crew students attended a careers event hosted by Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The event was created by Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) in order to give students the opportunity to speak with staff from the many different departments within the airport about their roles and how they began their career in aviation.

Departments who attended included Air Traffic Control, Air Service Development, HR & Community and The Airport Police. All gave a 10 minute talk on how they began their careers and what a typical day is for them.

After talks with the LJLA employees, the students took part in a career marketplace which allowed the students to receive one to one advice about what their next steps should be. The marketplace gave the students the chance to link in with major travel brands Ryanair and EasyJet.

Hugh Baird College Level 3 Cabin Crew Student, Michael Elson said:

The careers event at Liverpool John Lennon Airport was great, really informative and helped me to realise what career I want within the aviation sector. I can’t wait to start my career

Andrea Currie, Curriculum Coordinator said:

This experience was eye opening for the students, the opportunity to speak with all of the departments allowed them to realise what area of aviation they would like to go into after college. On behalf of Hugh Baird College, I would like to thank the staff at the airport for taking the time to work with our learners.
