Exclusive partnership launched between Peel Ports and Hugh Baird College


Students at Hugh Baird College will be offered career kick-starting opportunities thanks to a new partnership between the College and Peel Ports Group, Liverpool.

The exclusive partnership will enable students to apply for and undertake a 10-week work experience placement across a number of disciplines at the Port of Liverpool.

Yana Williams, Hugh Baird College Principal and Chief Executive Officer said:

“We are extremely excited about our new partnership with Peel Ports. The opportunity it will provide for our students will not only make their C.V. stand out from the crowd, but will also give them valuable experience of working with a global employer.”

“The new deep-water container terminal, Liverpool2 is a growth sector identified by the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), with over 33,000 people predicted to be employed in the sector by 2020. Our challenge as a College is to help our students access those employment opportunities. The partnership we are launching today will help facilitate that.”

“We are hopeful, that in some cases, our students will eventually be offered employment with Peel Ports.”

Work experience plays a vital role in the study programmes offered to all Hugh Baird College students. Combined with their chosen vocational qualification, enrichment, employability skills, maths and English, all students at Hugh Baird College are offered a chance to spend time developing their skills in a real working environment.
