Course Details

This qualification suitable for an individual aged 19 or above working within the health and social care sector, looking to gain specialist knowledge and understanding of personal care needs.

The purpose of the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Personal Care Needs is to give learners specialist knowledge to support their work within the social care and healthcare sectors. Learners will gain knowledge and understanding by successfully completing the units required.

  • L/617/8829 Understand person-centred care
  • F/617/8830 Understand how to support personal hygiene
  • J/617/8831 Understand foot care for individuals
  • L/617/8832 Understand how to support individuals to maintain oral health R/617/883
  • Understand pressure area care
  • Y/617/8834 Understand sepsis
Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Personal Care Needs
1pm - 5pm each Wednesday for 16 weeks.

Learners who successfully achieve this qualification** would be in a position to progress to a Foundation Entry Degree course in Health and Social Care or a Foundation Entry Degree course in Mental Health and Wellbeing at the Hugh Baird University Centre. 

They may also be in a position to study:  

  • L3 Access to Higher Education (Health and Social Care or Nursing and Midwifery) at the Hugh Baird University Centre***
