Course Details
The GCSE Combined Science (Evening) qualification is for those aged 19 or over and covers chemistry, physics and biology. This course is ideal for those looking to gain a level of Science qualification often needed to progress into higher level employment positions or higher education.
It is an ideal qualification for adult students considering taking a broader-based approach to Science as it has elements from each of the main science subjects. This is a good subject to consider if you are thinking about a possible career in teaching or nursing where a Science GCSE at 4 or better is usually compulsory.
This course is equivalent to two GCSEs. This is the linear 9-1 GCSE qualification. A linear qualification means that students must sit all their exams at the end of the course in June. The lessons will involve a mixture of classroom based sessions and practical lessons in our specialist science laboratories.
Our GCSE programme covers a range of topics both theoretical and practical, and provides a good introduction to further study in all science areas, as it covers Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The course is theory-based but there are core practical experiments in Biology, Chemistry and Physics that you will need to understand to successfully complete your exams.
Employers value this qualification and for many careers it is essential for progression and development. GCSE Science also supports continued education, qualifying you for level 3 science courses, or completing your grade portfolio to allow access to certain degree courses. This is a good course for those who a require two GCSE's in science to progress into further study or on to degrees programs that demand it.
This qualification is designed for adults who wish to change or advance their career in a range of allied health professions such as nursing, dental and pharmaceuticals which require the skills and knowledge across all sciences.
It is also a required qualification if you wish to go into teaching or health and social care.
