Apprenticeship Details

This apprenticeship an occupational qualification for learners who work in Adult Care Settings. The qualification is linked to the Lead Adult Care Worker, where workers have key responsibilities for delivery of care and support and/or a level of supervisory responsibility for others such as:

  • Lead Adult Care Worker
  • Lead Personal Assistant
  • Key Worker
  • Domiciliary Care Worker
  • Senior Care Assistant
  • Support Worker
This qualification consists of mandatory units covering core knowledge and skills competencies with optional specialisms which can be combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners. The content of the mandatory units covers person centred approaches, communication, personal development, equality and inclusion, handling information, duty of care, responsibilities of the role, safeguarding, health, safety and well-being. The optional units are designed to meet the requirements of a range of Adult Care services.
  • Aged 16+
  • You must demonstrate Maths and English skills at Level 1 or above in your initial Maths and English assessment.

Working in a health setting across all types eg. Domiciliary Care/Supported living/ NHS/Clinical Practice/Private Sector.

Please note: To gain access to this course you will need to go through a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. If you have criminal convictions or cautions, please do not be put off from applying for the course. Your acceptance on to the course will depend on the nature of any convictions and will be at the discretion of the College and your placement provider.

Most apprenticeships take between 12 - 18 months to complete.

Yes, you will be paid by your employer for the duration of your apprenticeship. You will be paid at least the government’s minimum wage rate for apprentices, £3.70. A lot of employers pay their apprentices a higher hourly wage than the minimum rate.

This is ultimately up to your employers, but more than 90% of apprentices stay in employment after their course ends.
