I hope to be a Teacher in Higher Education.
Heather said: I started at Hugh Baird College studying the Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning CACHE (Teaching Assistant) - Level 3 course. Upon completion my tutor recommended the Hugh Baird University Centre to study the Children, Young People and their Services - Foundation Degree (FdA), which lead me to the Education Studies - BA (Hons) Top up.
The College and University Centre really opened doors for me, I really love working with young children, however since studying Higher Education it has inspired me to apply for a PGCE course to be able to teach within higher education in the future.
Since starting at Hugh Baird College/University Centre my confidence and self-belief has really grown, I now have aspirations and want a career. The support you get from your tutors and peers is brilliant, we are like one big family. Without the people I have met, I would not have been able to achieve my potential despite various obstacles.
Before I started, I always worried how I would afford to go back into education again, but the Student Finance team encouraged me to apply for the bursary, this enabled me to buy necessary equipment, such as a printer and books at no cost to me. Hugh Baird College has not only given me the qualifications, it has given me a career.
