Hugh Baird University Centre photography students celebrate success

Digital Imaging and Photography students and staff at the Hugh Baird University Centre staff are celebrating this week after another year of impressive results for its new graduates.

The Univeristy Centre’s BA (Hons) Top up Digital Imaging and Photography Degree course saw an impressive 60% of the students achieving the top grade of First Class Honours and with a 100% pass rate overall. These results ensure the new graduates are in a great position for employment or post-graduate study within their chosen field.

The fantastic results highlight the commitment from the University Centre to provide continuing education throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. Following the imposed lockdown on the 23rd March, staff and students at the University Centre have continued to work remotely via Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint providing the support needed for our students to complete their studies.

John Hendry, who studied on the BA (Hons) Top up Digital Imaging and Photography degree and achieved a First Class Honours, spoke of his experience at the University Centre:

The tutors consistently push you to achieve results that you initially thought you weren’t capable of attaining. The course has not only given me the confidence to pursue my goals in the field of photography, but also the belief in myself that I can progress in whatever career path I may choose in the future.

Colette Mawdsley, Dean of Higher Education and Access at the Hugh Baird University Centre, commented on the results achieved by the students:

I am especially proud of the results that our photography students at the University Centre have accomplished this year. They have all worked extremely hard and they should be immensely proud of their achievements. I would also like to thank the teaching staff on the course for delivering exceptional support to our students, as they always do, but this year going above and beyond during the lockdown period.

Applications are open for September 2020 for the Digital Imaging and Photography Degree courses at the Hugh Baird University Centre, which is approved by the University of Central Lancashire. For more information, visit: www.hughbaird.ac.uk/university-centre or call 0151 353 4444.
