Course Details
This course is for those aged 19 and above who would like to progress to a Foundation Degree in a health or social care related subject and wish to develop key skills to support their studies.
The course will cover key skills required to study within this area including the development of industry specific interpersonal and research skills as well as an exploration of Safeguarding considerations and procedures within the health sector.
Entry requirements:
- If you are aged 19-23, you will need to have achieved a full level 2 qualification.
- If you are aged 24+, there is no prior achievement required.
- You should be able to demonstrate an interest or experience in health or social care.
This course may be free if you are:
- Aged 19 and over, and;
- A resident of the Liverpool City Region (Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral).
This course is free to:
- Those aged 19-24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to a health-related programme at the Hugh Baird University Centre. Either;

Following successful completion of a full Foundation Degree, career paths can include:

Tuition fee loans cover university/college tuition fees and are paid direct to the university/college by Student Finance England, so you don’t need a pot of money up front.
They are available to all eligible students regardless of household income. The amount you pay back is dependent on how much you earn and not how much you owe and you won’t need to start paying them back until you are earning more than a certain amount.
Please note: Discover Uni data is available for Foundation Degree courses only, not Foundation Entry or BA/BSc Top Up courses. Where there is no data, the course will be new, and data will be available from the 1st year of completion.
