We offer a wide variety of Art, Design and Performance courses, from Graphic Arts, Creative Make Up Design and Practice, Fashion and Textiles and Visual Merchandising and Promotional Design to Performance, Dance for Education and Community Practitioners and Creative Audio Technology.
These courses are designed in collaboration with leading industry specialists and allow you to express yourselves freely. Not only do we look to develop your raw talent, but we aim to instil in you with a creative edge that will prepare you for your future career.
Our courses are dedicated to practice-based, industry-led teaching and the majority of our lecturers being are either still engaged in commercial practice or have recently moved into teaching from relevant workplace settings. Many of our undergraduates undertake live projects for local and national employers, enter local, national and international competition briefs and, for some courses, complete work placements.
You will be based between our ultra modern multi-million pound University Centre - which houses a multi-purpose performance arts space and a dedicated learning resource centre - and our St Winifrede's Campus.
Our Art, Design and Performance courses are all validated by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), so you will also have access to UCLan’s facilities and learning resources.
"The best thing about the Hugh Baird University Centre was the environment. I worked on a few live briefs that were very exciting; liaising and communicating with external clients from pitch level to final production of a brief."
Alex Parry, Graphic Arts - FdA
"What I liked about the course was that it involved challenging modules which really tested you but improved your skills. The facilities are very good with very spacious rehearsal space and a library just for university level students."
John Smith, Creating Performance - FdA
"What I loved about the course is the working environment. The staff and students were all really nice and there was always someone willing to help you, whether it be a student or a tutor."
Matt Longden, Visual Merchandising and Promotional Design - BA (Hons) Top up
