Computer Science, Digital Media & Game Development

Our Computer Science, Digital Media and Game Development department offer courses that are practical, work related and based on realistic employment situations.

The courses introduce you to your chosen careers and provides a strong base for more advanced development. As part of your course you will visit employers in the industry and be trained by sector experts. This will help you to appreciate the value of your studies in the real world.

Recent speakers have included specialists in networking and gaming as well as visits by Microsoft Executives and Edge Hill University focussing on special effects and animation.

You will develop skills and techniques that are essential for career development in software engineering and networks systems and security.

There are no formal qualifications for our Level 1 courses.

These study programmes have been designed to prepare you to progress to study at Level 2 or to employment. These programmes not only give an insight to your chosen vocational area, but also give you the opportunity to undertake work experience and other activities that will prepare you quickly to get a job or to move on to higher levels in your chosen field. These programmes also include the development on maths and English skills.

You will need to have successfully completed a relevant Level 1 course or have 4 GCSEs at grade G (new grading system: 1) or above or have industry related experience.

We will also work with you to help you develop maths and English skills.
