English & Maths

We offer a range of English and maths courses at different times throughout the year. On receipt of your application we will invite you in for an interview and a short assessment to see which course would be the best for you.

Courses are available during the daytime and in the evening and include:

Improve your English / Improve your Maths

Our ‘Improve your’ courses are aimed at those people who want to improve their maths and English before progressing on to GCSEs in the subject. The courses are ideal if you don’t have GCSEs in maths and English or you got below a D (new grading system: 3) when you first sat the exams. At the end of these courses you will sit an examination. Courses start in September, January and April.

GCSE English and Maths

Our GCSE English and Maths courses are specifically designed for people over 18 who need to improve their grades for personal, professional or educational reasons. Level 2 skills are often essential for increasing your scope for further study or employment. You will usually need to have achieved a grade D (new grading system: 3) previously to retake your GCSE in one year (or be competent at Level 2). Courses start September and run through to June.

  • Level 1
  • Level 2
  • Level 3

There are no formal qualifications for our Level 1 courses.

These study programmes have been designed to prepare you to progress to study at Level 2 or to employment. These programmes not only give an insight to your chosen vocational area, but also give you the opportunity to undertake work experience and other activities that will prepare you quickly to get a job or to move on to higher levels in your chosen field. These programmes also include the development on maths and English skills.

You will need to have successfully completed a relevant Level 1 course or have 4 GCSEs at grade G (new grading system: 1) or above or have industry related experience.

We will also work with you to help you develop maths and English skills.

Please note: this is just a guide. For course specific entry qualifications, please check the course you're interested in.

You will need to have successfully completed a relevant Level 2 course or have 4 GCSEs at grade C (new grading system: 4) or above or have industry related experience.

We will also work with you to help you improve your maths and English skills.
