Apply for September 2017 start

In Year 9? Apply now for September 2017 start! Go to the online application form.

We decided to open the 14-16 College because we understand that young people learn in different ways. We know that some young people can’t wait to get ‘hands on’ and start developing the skills that will put them ahead of the curve in an industry they are passionate about.

The 14-16 College not only has a strong focus on employability and developing work related skills, but also strives to ensure that our students gain those essential core GCSEs.

Can I really leave school at 14?

Yes, thanks to changes made by the government and with the 14-16 College, you can now choose whether or not to stay at school from the age of 14.

If you are now in Year 9 now, instead of staying at school for Years 10 and 11, you can enrol at the Hugh Baird 14 -16 College and take hands-on work-related qualifications alongside GCSEs in English, maths, science and computing. This means you can now leave school at 14, enrol as a full time student at the Hugh Baird 14-16 College and start your career plan earlier.

Whatever you choose to do, we will make sure that you still have all options open to you when you reach 16.

When can I join?

If you are now in Year 9, then you can finish school in the Summer and enrol at the College as a Year 10 entrant, to start from September. Please note: We only accept students who will be 14 on the 31st August 2016 and who are currently in Year 9.
