Connect - Entry 3 Level 1

This one year course will give you the opportunity to sample sessions in a range of different areas including sport, business, ICT and pre-uniform services.

You will start learning at Entry 3 from September to December and, provided that you are successful at this level, can then progress onto the Level 1 part of the course which runs from January to June.

You will be able to improve your team working, problem solving, ICT, literacy and numeracy skills. These skills are transferable across all courses and will give you the best possible opportunity to progress onto a level 1 or level 2 course in the next academic year.

What topics/modules are covered?

  • Compulsory units that teach all round employability and service skills – transferable across all professions
  • Units in Functional Skills Literacy and Numeracy to improve your reading, writing and counting skills

What are the entry requirements?

Connect is the right course for you if:

  • You are uncertain about the course that you want to apply for

  • You don’t have the skills or entry requirements yet to succeed on a Level 1 or Level 2 course

  • You are uncertain about what you would like to do in the future

The College will always treat each applicant as an individual. Should you not have or not expect to obtain the grades stated above, or not have relevant industry-related experience, the College would still welcome your application for this course as this will enable us to identify whether this course is, in fact, the right course for you or whether another course may be more appropriate.

What can I do if I complete this course?

Once you have finished this course, you will have hopefully settled into College life and would then be encouraged to apply for either a level 1 or level 2 vocational programme in another subject that interests you.

The Connect course tutors will discuss with tutors the possibility of you starting a suitable course in the next academic year.

What qualification will I gain?

Occupational Studies Certificate Entry 3 and Occupational Studies Certificate Level 1.

1 year.

Where will I be based?

The Sixth Form Centre, Hugh Baird College.
