Financial Support for 19+ Students

At Hugh Baird College we have schemes in place to help support those students that may find it more difficult to cover the costs of participating in further education, these include help with things such as tuition fees, childcare and travel.

19+ LSF Package

The 19+ LSF Package is tailored to you and your needs. To gain the maximum amount of funding we need to assess you individually so that we can make sure you get the right support package for you.

  • Travel Pass or Travel Payment (must live more than 1.5 miles from the College)
  • Childcare

Wondering if you’re eligible?

If you are claiming a means-tested benefit your application will be considered. You’ll just need to show us some evidence that details your benefit for e.g. 2016-2017 Tax Credit Award Notice, benefit letter.

Did you receive an ICAP Bursary (Guaranteed Bursary) in your previous year of study?

Speak to a Retention & Progression Co-ordinator as you may be eligible for ICAP Transition Payments. Students who successfully apply for these payments are also entitled to apply for other schemes funded from 19+ Learner Support Funds. Employed and on a low income?

Worried about how you might afford to study?

You don’t have to let lack of money stop you from studying, we have two schemes set up to assist students who are employed; perhaps working part-time, but on a low income. Click on the link below to find out more or contact The Pod on 0151 353 4444 and ask about the following:

  • Discretionary Award – assists students with the cost of their tuition fees.
  • 19+ Learning Grant – Termly payments to help with general costs of participating in further education.
