Football and Sport Coaching - Level 2

This course is one of the first of its kind in the UK and is suitable for individuals with some experience in football.

You will study an NVQ Level 2 Activity Leadership, Level 3 Principles of Coaching Sport and the FA Level 1 Coaching Award.

You will also be required to undertake weekly work experience on our Super Schools programme at a local primary schools delivering coaching sessions.

The programme also includes studying maths and English towards GCSE grade A*-C (new grading system: 9-4) if you do not already have these grades.

What topics/modules are covered?

  • Background and theory of coaching at a variety of levels including children, professionals and those with a disability
  • Taking part in practical sessions with people of varying age, levels and disabilities
  • Preparing and conducting coaching sessions
  • Undertaking practical work placements working with ex professional footballers
  • Dealing with accidents and emergencies
  • Promoting events and courses

What are the entry requirements?

In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:

  • 3 GCSEs at grade D (new grading system: 3) or above


  • A relevant Level 1 qualification


  • Industry related experience

Should you not have or not expect to obtain the grades stated above, or not have relevant industry related experience, the College would still welcome your application for this course as this will enable us to identify whether this course is, in fact, the right course for you or whether another course may be more appropriate.

Study Programme

If you are aged 16-19, this qualification will form a substantial part of your study programme. The study programme has been designed to ensure that young people are fully equipped and ready to move on to the world of work or higher level courses. In addition to your main qualification, will you also get the opportunity to undertake relevant and CV bolstering work experience out in your chosen industry. You will also be supported through maths and English qualifications.
