Health & Social Care – Technical Extended Diploma – Level 3

This course has been designed to prepare you for work in health related careers in a professional capacity. It will provide you with the opportunity to develop a range of skills, techniques and personal qualities that you will need for your successful performance in the workplace.

This course has been planned and written by a team of subject matter experts, and its content has been reviewed by both employers and Higher Education institutions to enable you to access Higher Education as a route of progression.

This course promotes high quality care and support and has been mapped to the standards within the Care Certificate.

You will be required to attend placement in a real work environment to support you learning.

There is a huge demand for workers in the health and social care sector, with plenty of opportunities for progression and a job in which a high percentage of workers report they feel their work makes a difference. The number of health and social care jobs is projected to grow to around 2.2 million by 2025.

This course covers a wide range of key subject areas in health and social care, including:

  • Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
  • Human growth and development
  • Infection prevention and control in health and social care
  • Psychological perspectives in health and social care
  • Sociological perspectives in health and social care
  • Empowerment in health and social care
  • Protection of children, young people and adults in health and social care
  • Anatomy and physiology for health and social care
  • Research skills for health and social care
  • Personal and professional development

In order to achieve this qualification, must achieve the internally assessed unit assessments for:

  • 14 mandatory units
  • 4 optional units

You must also achieve the:

  • Certificate External Assessment
  • Extended Diploma External Assessment
  • Short Answer Examination

You will complete a minimum of 175 placement hours.


What are the entry requirements?

In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grade C (new grading system: 4/5) or above. It would be beneficial for you to also have subjects such as Maths, a Science or Humanity at Grade C (new grading system: 4/5)

Or

  • A relevant Level 2 qualification

Or

  • Industry relevant experience

Study Programme
