Travel and the Visitor Economy – BTEC Extended Diploma – Level 3

This course will help you to develop an in depth knowledge of the travel and tourism industry and the necessary skills for a career in this sector.

The programme also includes studying maths and English towards GCSE grade A*-C (new grading system: 9-4) if you do not already have these grades.

You will study a range of units which will include six core units:

  • Investigating the travel and tourism sector
  • The business of travel and tourism
  • The UK as a destination
  • Customer service in travel and tourism
  • Retail travel operations
  • European destinations
  • Passenger transport for travel and tourism
  • Working as a holiday representative
  • Tour operations

What are the entry requirements?

You will need to have successfully completed a relevant Level 2 course or have 4 GCSEs at grade C (new grading system: 4) or above or have industry related experience.

Study Programme

If you are aged 16-19, this qualification will form a substantial part of your study programme. The study programme has been designed to ensure that young people are fully equipped and ready to move on to the world of work or higher level courses. In addition to your main qualification, will you also get the opportunity to undertake relevant and CV bolstering work experience out in your chosen industry. You will also be supported through maths and English qualifications.
